SC Healthcare Consulting Group

Solving healthcare's toughest problems.

We partner with healthcare organizations to tackle strategic, operational, and research challenges through rigorous, pro bono consulting.

About us

Who we are

We're a student-run consulting group at USC that works with healthcare organizations on real business and operational challenges. Our teams conduct research, analyze data, and develop recommendations for each client, all at no cost.

  • USC's first healthcare consulting group

SCHCG was founded as USC's first student-run healthcare consulting organization. Since then, we've worked with healthcare organizations across multiple projects, with clients returning to work with our teams again.

  • Built around interdisciplinary teams

Our project teams bring together students across business, medicine, engineering, policy, and other disciplines. That range of expertise lets us approach healthcare problems from multiple perspectives.

  • Pro bono, always

We provide every client with research, analysis, and actionable recommendations at no cost. For our members, that means working on real healthcare challenges with real organizations and delivering work that gets used.

American Red Cross

Improving volunteer retention

We analyzed donor participation and retention patterns to identify where and why volunteers disengaged. Based on our findings, we developed recommendations to improve recruitment, engagement, and long-term retention.

How college students use AI for healthcare

We surveyed college students to understand how they use AI for health-related questions and where concerns around accuracy and trust arise. Our findings informed recommendations for AI features designed around safer, more effective healthcare use.

Recruitment

How to join

We recruit once a semester. You don't need consulting experience and you don't need to be a business major.

  1. Week 1

    Info Session

We walk through what our projects actually look like, how teams are put together, and what we ask of members. Just show up. No sign-up, no commitment.

  2. Week 1 to 2

    Coffee Chats

Grab coffee with someone already in the club. Ask the awkward questions here, that is genuinely what these are for.

  3. Week 2

    Applications Due

A short written application. No consulting background, no résumé gymnastics, no cover letter.

  4. Week 3

    Interviews

One behavioral conversation and one case. We send prep material out beforehand because we would rather you do well than be surprised.

  5. Week 4

    Decisions

Offers go out, and new members get put on a live client project almost immediately.

FAQ

Questions we get a lot

  • No. Nobody has consulting experience when they start, us included. We're looking for people who pick things up fast, stay open-minded, and actually care about healthcare. The rest you learn on your first project.

Applications
